I am quick and handy w/fiberglass, so I would get a 2 &1/2 ft. long thick metal rod, a ball of twine, and a package of resin/catalyst included and fabricate a dangerous, formidable weapon.

I like that idea alot. It's funny and sensible. I have a katana but of course samurai would carry wakizashi to accompany their katana. Sometimes called "honor swords" they were shorter versions of katanas for confined spaces. They earned the "honor swords' nickname because samurai could more easily commit seppuku (ritual suicide) with these shorter blades. I need one of those to accompany my Katana. For confined spaces and if I get bit I'd like to taste my own blade. SORRY OFF TOPIC I would still make bow and arrows if I had time in a hardware store. Silent deadly and economical. I think you could make some kind of guns too and grab some nailguns with a bandalier of nails. Build a chasis and supermod a couple lawnmower moters. We could have alot of fun!

i'd go with the standard axe, but i'd sharpen the other side as well. also, maybe some kind of glove (like a welding glove) with a table saw (guard removed) strapped blade up. oooh
I would go with a some thing like a shaolin spade http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monk's_spade .But use a broom handle i dubble coated in rubber cement for the handle and use an axe or something like them for the spade parts.
Id go with a 2x4 with either an ice pick through the top or an other sharp stable object and then finish it off with a bunch of barbed wire wrapped around the top.
But i think the best weapon you could just grab and use would be an axe handle. Think about it, its heavy enough to do serious damage, MADE for swingin, light enough to be fast. Might be able to duel wield, but I wouldnt, so I could use it more like a pugil (sp?) stick and use both ends. Like i said i am all bout sharp objects, in fact its kind of a hobby ;-) but when you use an axe/sword/ect it can very likely get stuck in some undead skull, and you get munched on while prying it out, or you swing wrong and cut yourself, then turn when croak blood gets in the wound...... (assuming we are fighting zombies, hope nobody thinks i am weird lol) 3 things I would grag in a hurry 1 axe handle 2 roofing hammer (longer handle) 3 clear face shield for keeping the blood out of eyes and mouth :)
